"Good Afternoon Lieutenant West, 

I just want to give you an Update and a true success story….

I am so proud to report to you about a young man that was a former Reentry Dorm Resident (Mr. E.L.), who was released in March 2019 and was in Dr. Hill’s Successful Reintegration Class. He is using the life skills, and leadership skills she taught in the Successful Reintegrations Classes.  He has taken the opportunities presented to him - and since he has been released, he has followed her advice to the letter and he had a Second Chance company offer him a job (and he accepted) a salary of $19.50/hr. with benefits! He will start working for them within the next week. I just want to let you all know that Dr. Hill’s great efforts and excellence with Successful Reintegrations are not in vain.  

Mr. L is proof of Successful Reintegrations’ collaborative and cohesive style with other organizations working together to accomplish success. Her non-profit is definitely committed to the vision of seeing Ex-offenders reintegrate smoothly into society, and it helps them exclude the many barriers that could be faced, by introducing them to the many resources she has access to. Dr. Hill is well respected by her clients, the community, and anyone who cross paths with her, because she has a caring, and encouraging style, and I look forward to sending you many more success stories."

"Good Morning Lt. West, 

Here is something to encourage you and Dr.Hill as you begin this week. Since his release, Mr. V.S. (a reentry dorm returning citizen from Dr. Hill’s program), has been diligent in Successful Reintegration’s program recommendations-of focus, plans, and goals. He has consistently visited the Workforce Center several times a week for my support and assistance.  He was able to find a part-time job but needed full-time employment.  Although it has been difficult, I am happy to announce that "TODAY”, He starts a position with National Academies!" 

He has accepted a position as a Financial Analyst and his hourly rate is $27.00/hr.  The company is located in Washington, DC. Again, It all began with Dr. Hill (Successful Reintegrations). She tirelessly teaches many life skills and leadership skills classes, in which Mr. S was a participant. She trained him on lessons of self-control, anger management, accountability, responsibility, priorities, resume building, and communication (verbal and non-verbal)-to name a few. 

I am truly excited to be a part of the collaboration with Dr. Hill’s organization, contributing to his successful return to the community, and I believe he will do a great job!

Your Successful Reintegrations program helped to lift my spirit inside the jail, just when I felt I didn’t care, and I would give up. You helped me to recognize that there are people who care. You guys made me feel like a person again and made me want to prepare for re-entry with a proper plan. I contacted you as soon as my feet hit the ground on the outside, and I got a job immediately at Ruby Tuesdays (because thanks to your encouragement I took the ServSafe food handler exam, and passed it when I was in the dorm), your teaching built up my self-esteem, gave me the confidence to communicate with my employer during the interview, in a professional way.
